The same year I started my yoga practice I also became a runner. I didn't know at the time how well these two disciplines complemented each other. But I was lucky to have started my yoga practice when I did because it has helped me stay healthy as a runner.
One of the reasons I've avoided some runner-related injuries is with yoga-inspired warmup and cooldown routines. I change them up but focus on keeping my hips open and hamstrings supple, warming up my core, and giving TLC to specific areas like the IT Band and plantar fascia.
