In celebration of Moon Days, I'm performing Moon Salutations (Chandra Namaskar). This calming sequence from Ekhart Yoga features Goddess pose and has no Chaturangas. You will enjoy the change from traditional Surya Namaskar.
It is a bit tricky, as you work from the front of the mat to the back during the flow. But once you get the hang of it, you'll know why it's a powerful sequence. There is something elegant about the movement in this sequence as you move from Crescent Moon pose to Goddess with fluid motion.
This video covers a full set (Left/Right) of the Moon Salutation, so you can get the idea of how this flow works.
There are many Moon Salutation variations and videos out there to guide you through the sequence. Check out Ekhart Yoga and other online sources:
Journey Junkie moves step-by-step from her cute Zen Den through a version featuring Half Moon in the flow.
Five Parks Yoga goes the extra mile by performing her variation of the sequence outside at night with a relaxing soundtrack in the background.
Did you get a chance to practice Moon Salutations this month?
